Supreme Court Rejects Abortion Limits in Texas
Finally, some good news after what seems like weeks of insanity.
The New York Times reports:
The Supreme Court on Monday struck down parts of a restrictive Texas law that could have reduced the number of abortion clinics in the state to about 10 from what was once a high of roughly 40. The 5-to-3 decision was the court’s most sweeping statement on abortion rights since Planned Parenthood v. Casey in 1992. It applied a skeptical and exacting version of that decision’s “undue burden” standard to find that the restrictions in Texas went too far. The decision on Monday means that similar restrictions in other states are most likely also unconstitutional, and it imperils many other kinds of restrictions on abortion.

Clip It in the Bud
In the six-year-old contract it states that if it turned out [Vanessa] Lopez had never been pregnant or if she failed to follow through on the abortion, Redick would have no further obligations to keep up the dating charade. If he simply got bored and didn't want to keep dating her following the abortion, he would be contractually required to give her 'written notice' 30 days prior to any break up and pay up the $25,000.

Chris Evert 'Extremely Disappointed' in Jimmy Connors Over Abortion Claim
“In his book, Jimmy Connors has written about a time in our relationship that was very personal and emotionally painful,” she said in a statement obtained by RadarOnline.com. “I am extremely disappointed that he used the book to misrepresent a private matter that took place 40 years ago and made it public without my knowledge. I hope that everyone can understand that I have no further comment.”

Book: Chris Evert Aborted Jimmy Connors' Baby
He writes:
“An issue had arisen as a result of youthful passion and a decision had to be made as a couple. Connor said he wanted to “let nature take its course” and accept responsibility “for what was to come.”
But the then-19-year-old Evert, who was raised in a devout Roman Catholic home, made a different call. “Chrissie ... made up her mind that the timing was bad and too much was riding on her future,” wrote Connors.
Connors, who had been staying in a Los Angeles apartment with his pal, fellow short-fused legend Ilie Nastase, was perturbed that Evert decided the matter for the both of them. “Well, thanks for letting me know,” Connors claims he told Evert. “Since I don’t have any say in the matter, then I guess I’m just here to help.”
The romance between Connors, the reigning bad boy of tennis, and Evert, who was America’s tennis sweetheart, had played out in public and captured the country’s imagination as both won tournament after tournament. But Connors, who was barely 22 at the time, had been harboring deep misgivings about getting married. And that phone call from Evert shook him badly. Connors said he suggested to Evert they “take a step back and think about giving this a little more time.” Evert was apparently thinking the same thing. “O.K., if that’s what you think,” she replied coldly, Connors recounted. “I’ve got a match tomorrow. Not a problem.” And that, Connors claims, “was it.”Yeah, Miss Ice Maiden: Thanks for letting him know. Now I wonder if he let her know he was putting this in his book 40-some years later!
