As Damian and I rode down the West Side Highway in the back of a taxi last Sunday, en route to Chelsea Piers for the 2025 SAGE Toys Party, I found myself getting unexpectedly reflective. I turned to him and said that if you’d told “single and on the prowl” me back in the 1990s that I’d be attending this very same event some three decades later -- with my husband -- I’d have looked at you like you had two heads.
And yet, there we were.
Another wonderful night in service of a truly wonderful organization -- one that shows up, year after year, for LGBTQ seniors and children in need. SAGE does work that is both urgent and deeply human, offering advocacy, resources and care to elders who too often fall through the cracks, as well as support for younger people who need it most.
