Rescue Me

That queen's such a liar. I don't think any of us have ever gotten over our Sam Elliott "Lifeguard" fantasies.

Sam Elliott: In Black (Speedos) & White (Briefs)

Came across these sexy photos of Sam Elliott on a friend's Facebook page over the weekend. From my memory, those teen magazines always seemed to feature the least threatening heartthrobs (read: girly) -- Leif Garrett, Shawn Cassidy, Donny Osmond and then the Leo DiCaprio types later on -- so I was surprised to see such MAN grace the pages of Teen Beat. (What was the rationale anyway, that young girls would be scared of manly men?) The pics got me thinking about the 1981 film "Murder in Texas," which I had been told by a reader featured the hunk in a Speedo, yet I was only able to find scenes of him in skimpy black trunks. I revisited my bootleg DVD (purchased off iOffer.com) and what do you know, not only is Sam in a black Speedo later in the film, he's also in a pair of tighty whities in the middle.

San Elliott: Hunk in Trunks

My childhood crush on Sam Elliott has been well-documented on this blog (with 'stache and without). So you can imagine how titillating it was for me when a reader informed me that his moment of "awakening" was when he first laid eyes on the ultimate daddy fantasy in a black Speedo in the made-for-TV movie "Murder in Texas," back in 1981. The film was never released on DVD, but I was still able to buy a bootleg copy off the Internet (oh, how did we ever live without it?). While it turned out my reader's memory was slightly off -- it was more of a typical '80s swimsuit, i.e. REALLY skimpy, rather than an actual Speedo -- these screen grabs reveal that his recollection of Sam's sex appeal in the scene was 100 percent accurate.

CORRECTION: My reader was right. Click HERE.

'Lifeguard' on Duty

My fellow hairy-chest-loving pal Scott and I were taking a trip down Follicle Memory Lane over the weekend ("North Dallas Forty," anyone?) and both agreed that Kathleen Quinlan's character Wendy wasn't the only one who "came of age" back in 1976 by way of Sam Elliott's Rick Carlson in "Lifeguard."

If you don't know what I'm talking about, this clip will show you everything you need to know, although I opted to buy the RECENTLY RELEASED DVD just to be sure it was as sexy as I remember (hint: it sure is!).

Classic scene

But if you're more into the smooth type of man, "Story of Shirtless: A Tribute to the Most Shirtless Soap Hunk Ever" might be more your speed. Tim Adams, as Casey the lifeguard from '90s soap "Sunset Beach," has a body that producers do not want to cover up -- and can you blame 'em?
