Was sad to read about the passing of Edna Wright, whose female trio topped the charts with the pre-online-dating classic "Want Ads," back in 1971. Wright, who reportedly suffered from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, died of a heart attack at a hospital in Encino, Calif. Was surprised to learn that she was the younger sister of the great Darlene Love -- which is totally obvious once you see her -- who told Showbiz411:
“I’m in complete shock and so heartbroken by the sudden loss of my beautiful baby sister. Please keep me and my family in your prayers during this very sad time for us.”Wright formed the Honey Cone in 1969 along with Carolyn Willis and Shelly Clark. “Working together with Edna was magical,” recalled Willis on Saturday. “My heart is broken and my love and thoughts go out to her family and daughter Melodye.”
They don't make 'em like this anymore. RIP.

Oh I'm gonna put it in the want ads, I need a love that's true
Gonna put it in the want ads, my man and I are through
"Stick Up" is nearly as good as their million-seller hit
"One Monkey Don't Stop the Show" was another memorable single

RIP Edna :( I love the Honey Cone. I picked up their "Soulful Sugar" collection some years back and it has some great songs (While You're Out Looking For Sugar, Sunday Morning People, Are You Man Enough, Sittin' On A Time Bomb, etc.). Interesting trivia--Carolyn Willis provided the guest vocal on the Seals and Croft hit Get Closer.
Boom-Boom-Shacka-Lacka-Boom-Boom-Boom-Boom!
The summer I learned to ski on a single ski and change the water pump impeller in the middle of the lake.
