Was Alyssa Milano Slugger Carl Pavano's Beard?

A former high school classmate of hunky Minnesota Twins pitcher Carl Pavano is under investigation for allegedly trying to extort money and a Range Rover -- "navy ... with tan leather" -- from the ex-New York Yankee in exchange for keeping quiet about a three-year sexual relationship the two had while attending high school together in Southington, Connecticut. I don't know what to make of this. I highly doubt this guy just made up the affair, and it makes me wonder if more men experiment with guys -- and not just "one-offs" -- than many of us believe, but are not necessarily closet cases or even actively bisexual as adults. (Time to rethink that "women are the ones with fluid sexuality, and if a guy goes gay more than once, he's GAY" idea I have?) I had a physical relationship when I was even younger with someone who is married with children now, and I have no reason to think his life is a lie.

Then again, his high-profile relationship with Alyssa Milano could have been a PR stunt to throw people off the scent -- he is a huge fan of the
mustache, after all, and he does have experience as a barista -- so who knows? He may well be the highest-paid gay guy in the Major Leagues. (We know they're out there.) Whatever the case may be, one thing's for sure. I've been wanting to play catcher for this one for years!

Weekend Wood

Michael and I are just back from beautiful Honolulu. Will be posting more about it this week. Hope everyone's having a great weekend. It's wet and freezing in the (212), yet even the greatest vacation reminds me that there's no place I'd rather be!

"MDN...oh, never mind!"

*This post is being made by "KIT212" guest blogger, Christopher

Just heard from Kenneth.  He’s busy getting “lei’d” near Enola Gay’s Splish Splash Bar and Grill. While he’s away, I figured I’d take the opportunity to be downright rancid.

I’m sure by now everyone who is going to buy “MDNA” has already gotten his or her copy. Unfortunately, It’s not looking like Madonna is going to get the hit album she may have wanted. In fact, the iTunes and Amazon.com charts show that Lionel Richie, yes, Lionel fuckin’ Richie, holds the number one spot with his “honkey tonk” tinged Greatest Hits package “Tuskegee.”  After hearing that mess, I think I’ve come down with Syphilis in my ears as a result of his “Tuskegee Experiment.”  The banjo inspired version of "Dancin' on the Ceiling" is enough to cause explosive diarrhea.  How he got to number one without recently dropping dead beats me.   But I digress…  Now before you start writing me all kinds of hate mail, I like "MDNA."  It’s  fun .  I’ve  been listening to it quite a bit.  With that said, it has some of the most ridiculous lyrics I’ve heard in awhile and all the electronic vocoder effects left me a bit cold.  In my opinon, the best songs are the few ballads included on the set. “Falling Free” is a small slice of musical genius .  It makes me ache for a new collaboration with Patrick Leonard or Stephen Bray.  I admit, I'm an old fan.  Literally.

I am glad that she’s back to dressing like a complete wanton slut.  I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for tramps.  She certainly still has the body to wear hot pants.  However, the face is starting to look a bit like Betty White.  When I saw the video to “Girl Gone Wild” complete with her giving a yeast infection to sexy male dancers in their 20’s;  I was reminded of Mae West in “Sextette.”  What do you think??

Reaching Nirvana

*This post is being made by "KIT212" guest blogger, Frank Anthony Polito

So I’m in the home stretch of publishing my third novel, LOST IN THE '90s -- the tale of a teenage boy from 2012 who travels back in time to April 1994 where he meets his teenage parents. Think of it as Back to the Future meets Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist with a bit of Reality Bites thrown in. (Ok, maybe not -- but it’s the first “classic” early-90s movie I could think of.) Most of the action takes place on 4.7.94, the eve of the announcement of the death of Nirvana lead singer, Kurt Cobain, an event that plays an integral part in the story.

To help promote the book, I’ve started reaching out to journalists and bloggers who have covered the anniversary in the past, asking if they might make mention of my novel, which serves as a tribute to the legacy that was Kurt Cobain. From everything I’ve read, Nirvana/Cobain fans are extremely loyal – even after 18 years. I’m hoping they will enjoy the book – but first I have to make it known to them. What better way than on this particular day, 4/5?

One said journalist I reached out to is a guy by the name of Kevin Allman. KIT212 readers may remember Allman from the 1992 interview he conducted with Kurt Cobain and his wife Courtney Love in The Advocate. Surprisingly, I received an email reply from him just yesterday! No planned coverage of Cobain’s death anniversary, sadly. Allman now works for The Gambit in New Orleans, and they keep things locally focused. But to think, I am now TWO degrees away from Kurt Cobain… Dude!

If you’ve never read Allman’s candid conversation with the “King of Grunge Rock,” I highly recommend you check it out here.

I know that a lot of us gays (myself included) weren’t the biggest fans of grunge music -- “You can’t dance to this!” But in reading about Kurt’s views on the gay community, and how he, himself, was beaten up and called “fag” as a teen growing up in Aberdeen, WA, I’ve gained a new respect for the man. How could you not love a dude who spray-painted “GOD IS GAY” on the side of people’s pick-up trucks just to piss them off?

This Post Means Hello and Goodbye

By the time you read this, Michael and I will be lying on the beach in Waikiki, celebrating out 10-anniversary and praying the misfortune that struck Greg Brady is not bestowed upon us. ("Michael! For the love of god, take that tiki idol off!") I've pre-posted some Morning Woods and Caption-worthy photos for the week, but for the most part intend to be offline. (Can I do it?) I've also invited three friends who have contributed to KIT212 over the years -- Christopher Carozzo, Marc Lallanilla and Frank Anthony Polito -- to guest-blog in my absence, so I know you'll be in good hands. If my "smart" phone will allow, I'll try to drop you a postcard during the week. Until then, see you when I get back in a week or so. Aloha!!!!

Fitch Ratings

An Abercrombie & Fitch in Italy is being sued by a former employees who claims management forced male staffers to do 10 push-ups and 10 squat thrusts "for the ladies" each time they made a mistake. From the looks of things, these two were definitely not employees of the month.

The "Keith Haring: 1978-1982" exhibit going on through July 8 at the Brooklyn Museum sounds fun enough to get my ass outta Manhattan. Read Karen Rosenberg's write-up in the New York Times HERE.

Austin Powers

I sure hope all of you fellow tennis nuts have the Tennis Channel, which is airing its mesmerizing 100 Greatest of All Time this week. So much incredible footage of so many forgotten players (Molla Mallory!), plus commentary by many of the all-time greats.

My first concern when these lists are made, of course, is where Tracy Austin ranks. Tracy was my favorite growing up -- even met her at the 1981 Wells Fargo tournament in San Diego -- and I truly believe she'd have staked a claim as one of the best ever if not for her injuries. Turns out I'm not alone -- Chris Evert herself said as much in Tracy's No. 53 spot. As my brother put it, Chris was downright magnanimous, and sounded almost sad, as she talked about how great Tracy was and how much better she might have been. If you've not been watching, please do. (It's repeating all week.) Here's a peek of another teenager whiz kid:

Transgender Student Files Complaint Over Denied R.A. Position

The Daily News reports that Kaeden Kass, a transgender student at Miami University in Ohio, is fighting school officials for not allowing him to serve as a resident assistant in an all-male residence hall. I would say "You go, guy," only I sorta feel a little bad for the school (just a little): They even offer gender-neutral housing, so it's not like they're complete assholes. Still, I know it's separate and not equal, so I'm with you, Kaeden. Read HERE.

Whitney Houston Died a Cokehead

The Los Angeles County coroner's office has found that Whitney Houston did indeed have cocaine in her system, despite her claims that she had stopped using. The autopsy's official cause of death, however, was "drowning and effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use." (Marijuana and Xanax were also found in her system, but they did not contribute to her death, the coroner said.)

I actually didn't know adults could drown in situations like that -- I would have thought her reflexes would have brought her to. Perhaps she was just so strung out her body gave up. Very sad. (Via TMZ)

Cruise-Ship Butt-Fuckers Released

OK, so the actual guys who got arrested for having sex on their cruise-ship balcony -- in full public view of the port and town -- aren't quite as hot as I had made them out to be in my original post. But I'm glad the island nation of Dominica didn't lock them up and throw away the key for this "illegal act of buggery." According to The Washington Post: The men, ages 41 and "43," both of Palm Springs, Calif., pleaded guilty to indecent exposure following their arrest during a stop on a gay cruise of the Caribbean. The two initially were picked up on suspicion of the local equivalent of sodomy in the eastern Caribbean island, which prohibits sex between two men, but eventually agreed to the lesser charge. The men’s attorney, Bernadette Lambert, said they were remorseful. “They were struck by the beautiful mountains, the clean and clear fresh air and were having a few cocktails, and so threw caution to the wind,” she told the court. Chief Magistrate Evaline Baptiste ordered the men to pay a nearly $900 fine after calling them “rogues and vagabonds.” They made no comment after the hearing and police drove the men to the airport after they were released.

The old "had-to-fuck-butt-'cause-it-was-beautiful-outside defense." A tried-and-true classic!

UPDATE: The men speak out HERE.

Ryan's Hope

I don't have a whole lot of faith in Ryan Harrison ever becoming a Top 10 player. But it sure will be fun watching him try. The cute 19-year-old from Louisiana rallied to defeat Potito Starace in the first round in Miami, 6-7 (6-8), 6-4, 6-4.

Report: Rielle Hunter Wasn't John Edwards' Only Whore

The Internet is buzzing with news that John Edwards was a client of the “Soccer Mom Madam” in New York, reportedly having trysts with hookers at the same hotel where he met his mistress, Rielle Hunter. But listen: If the former U.S. senator from North Carolina says it's not true, then his word is good enough for me.

Me-owwwww!
