Consider your weekly dose of '80s nostalgia preempted this week (sorry, Holly Beth Vincent!) -- thanks to Miss Vanessa Brown, better known as VV. My friend Christopher sent me YouTube links to her singles "Leave!" and "Crying Blood" last week and I was instantly addicted. (Her Duffy meets the Pipettes style undoubtedly to blame.) Although she's just 25, this kooky British singer/songwriter has been churning out hits for other artists for years (Pussycat Dolls and Sugarbabes), and will release her debut album,
"Travelling Like the Light," later this month. "Shark in the Water" seems to be the lead-off new single from the disc, and I have to say it's my favorite song of hers yet. Cheers, mate!
