The Truman Show

A bit of New York history has just been sold: 169 E. 71st St. -- the townhouse that served as the facade of Holly Golightly's apartment in "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and was the real-life home of Martha Stewart's shady stockbroker Peter Bacanovic -- has just sold for $5.97 million. This is just a fraction of what Truman Capote's Brooklyn Heights house sold for last month, where he wrote the famed novel on which the film was based.

Thursday Ad Watch: Ray-Ban

Out has more on Ray-Ban's "Never Hide" campaign HERE. Although they weren't necessarily trying to be gay-friendly back in the day, Ray-Ban sunglasses were certainly a part of my sexual awakening, before he became a total freak ...

Take Belinda Carlisle Home

Belinda Carlisle was on Access Hollywood Live this week, talking sobriety and upcoming Go-Go's shows. What I was most surprised to learn about her recently, though, is that the home collection she has been talking about for a few years is not only coming to fruition, it is being launched by the tony department store Bergdorf Goodman.

WWD reports that line is called Belindia (oh dear!), featuring textiles woven in India, where the pop star has lived part-time over the last couple years. The pieces are sewn by women in Calcutta in association with the Shuktara Project, which provides aid to abandoned children with disabilities. (A portion of sales will benefit the organization.) Items -- including blankets, throws, pillows and table top items such as place mats, runners and napkins in florals and two-tone color blocks -- retail for $15 to $2,000.

"I never thought I'd be doing anything like this. But Bergdorf's approached me while I was doing press for my book three years ago," Belinda said. "At first it was a way for me to feel better about all the shopping I do while I'm in India, but it's been a great challenge to put on a business thinking cap."

Good for her. But I think I'm more excited about the new solo LP and the show at the Hollywood Bowl.

Here Come the Brides

Not sure if I will live to see "full" equality for LGBT people. But I'm awfully glad I'm here to see the wedding of our City Council's speaker, Christine Quinn, to her longtime girlfriend covered in The New York Times. (We've come a long way, baby!) The couple will tie the knot on May 19 in Manhattan. Read HERE.

Immigrants to Blame for Global Warming

Some good news from the world of politics. Republicans are finally willing to acknowledge that climate change is both real and man made. Of course, it's those damn illegals' fault, of course. How do they know immigrants are to blame for global warming? This hot guy says so -- and that's good enough for me.
H/T to Stephen Colbert.
