Puttin’ on the (St.) Moritz

Can’t beat a luxury resort town for a little R&R, especially moments after the ski crowds have fled for the season. 

St. Moritz lies on the southern slopes of the Albula Alps below the Piz Nair (3,056 meters or 10,026 feet) overlooking the flat and wide glaciated valley of the Upper Engadine and eponymous lake, Lake St. Moritz, which we are planning to walk around after lunch today. (My mom’s fondue favorite is on my menu!) It hosted the Winter Olympics in 1928 and 1948, as evidenced by the fun posters and paraphernalia throughout the resort.

You may know St. Moritz from the opening scenes of Hitchcock’s “The Man Who Knew Too Much” (1934), mentions in the James Bond films “Goldfinger” (1964) and “For Your Eyes Only” (1981) ( (ski scenes from “The Spy Who Loved Me” and “A View to a Kill” were filmed at St. Moritz), as well a mention in the 1969 Peter Sarstedt hit "Where Do You Go To (My Lovely)?," describing a Euro jet-setter who flies to St. Moritz.

Our hotel’s restaurant has been around since 1869, featuring caricatures of the regulars on the wall. (Only a few women made their way into this club.)

Weekend Tennis Roundup

Was an absolute thrill to attend my first Masters 1000 event, especially getting to see both the eventual champion and runner-up. Although I adore Lorenzo Musetti, reaching the final was just the milestone his career needed — especially considering Carlos Alcaraz had managed to slip to No. 3 in the world despite being the reigning French and Wimbledon champion so quasi desperately needed the points to get back to No. 2 before he’s forced to play Sinner in the semifinals of another major. (He succeeded — and is now 125 points ahead of Alexander Zverev.) 

I am attempting to post this on my phone from our hotel room in St. Moritz, so please forgive the presentation. But with men like these, a picture really is worth a thousand + words. See for yourself BELOW.

Milanesing Around

Glorious day (and night) in Milan, visiting the famed Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II shopping arcade, Duomo di Milano church and Sforzesco Castle, followed by a traditional Milanese dinner at a restaurant on the canal and drinks in the gayborhood. The trip was a lot like the man I love: short and sweet. xo

The Principality Is Your Pal

Wrapped up our stay in Monaco with a stroll around the central business district — which culminated in our running into the statuesque Joe Salisbury, who along with his game girlfriend facilitated this photo op! 

I’m posting this from the bathtub of our room at the Chateau Monfort in Milan, where we arrived just in time for dinner and drinks with this legions of people in town for Milano Design Week 2025. We’re here for the next two days before the second half of our vacation takes place in various Swiss locales. It’s my first time in Milan and cannot wait to soak it all in. 

Reminder: Show Damian my fave Grace Kelly movie, “High Society,” and finally watch “Once Upon a Crime,” a childhood favorite of his that was set in Monte Carlo starring another favorite blonde of mine.
