The Unbearable Darkness of Being

A Facebook friend recounts the youthful moment, with pinpoint precision, that he realized how the world perceived gay people -- not good -- via Billy Campbell's appearance on "The Rosie O'Donnell Show" circa 1999.

Reminds me so much of my own, when Kate Jackson was on “The Tonight Show” in 1982 to promote “Making Love” — and when she told (guest host) David Brenner it was about homosexuality, the crowd reacted similarly. Brenner chastised the audience -- as did Billy and Rosie -- but I learned right then and there that I should be ashamed of myself -- and went from being an outgoing kid to a painfully self-conscious teenager and young man. I'd like to think the variety of LGBT people depicted on television these days has made it somewhat easier for kids today.

Cutie patootie alert!

Campbell played Luke Fuller, Steven Carrington's lover from 1984 to 1985 on "Dynasty"

Children of the '70s Rejoice

I heard there was a new "Match Game." But no one told me about the "$100,000 Pyramid" reboot -- my favorite game to plan when home with the family -- and naturally Rosie O'Donnell is on both! Compare and contrast HERE.

Hillary Rocks LGBT Fundraiser in NYC

The second Damian and I saw Hillary Clinton on "The Rachel Maddow Show" with a stylish black leather jacket and glam eye makeup, we both knew the gays had stepped in. Turns out we were right -- she was on her way to the big LGBT fundraiser for the Democratic frontrunner at Capitale NY, looking fabulous! My friend Chad and I were excited to go, despite the beyond-our-means ticket price -- we were going to pose as "young professionals"! -- but alas I was unable to get the night off at work, so we missed it. Nonetheless, my friend Ben and others were on hand and said it was a great evening, as these photos featuring Billie Jean King, Cynthia Nixon, Michael Urie and Rosie O'Donnell support!

Rosie O'Donnell and Michelle Rounds Settle Divorce

Happy to read that Rosie O’Donnell and Michelle Rounds amicably settled their divorce Wednesday. “There’s peace in the Middle East,” O’Donnell joked to reporters after a court date with Rounds. “It’s done. We’ve settled. We’re both very happy about the outcome.” Rounds’ lawyer, William London, said the two agreed to “joint legal custody” of their adopted 2-year-old daughter, Dakota. “I feel great,” a smiling Rounds said outside Manhattan Supreme Court. Page Six reports that the former couple chatted amicably after three hours of negotiations, during which Rounds’ attorney was heard counseling her: “Don’t ask for the world. Be reasonable.” Rounds was hospitalized in September for a reported suicide attempt.

Page Six goes on to report that the "personal family issue" that prompted Rosie to leave "The View" the second time was troubled daughter Chelsea, who has since blasted her mom in the press. Rosie responded this week during a Manhattan stand-up gig, saying: “My daughter has been in the news ... but [Chelsea’s problems are] not news to the family. It’s been a decade long.”

Families are messy and complicated. Here's hoping mother and daughter are able to work through their issues. Happy to see Rosie and her ex were.

Rosie's Daughter Aims for 'Mommie Dearest,' Ends Up Sounding Like Petty Brat

Rosie O'Donnell's daughter Chelsea, 18, breaks her silence to reveal how the star locks herself away in her 'arts and crafts house' blasting Madonna and smoking weed and left The View because she feared a heart attack from Whoopi

--Chelsea O'Donnell tells Daily Mail Online in an exclusive interview that she never ran away from home
--She went to live with her boyfriend after Rosie kicked her out two weeks before her 18th birthday
--She claims her mom is a 'phony' who is a totally different person inside their family home than she is in the public eye
--Rosie wears tight Spandex shorts and T-shirts around house and likes to sleep late - only doing her make-up if someone else does it for her
--Rosie told her she was in withdrawal from heroin when she was born but when she checked hospital records her tests came back clean
---Chelsea denies she's 'mentally ill' but reveals her struggle with depression and anxiety since Rosie divorced Kelli Carpenter

I don't know. If these are your smoking guns -- dyke mom doesn't like to wear makeup and sleeps late; you're forced to listen to Madonna in an arts-and-crafts room -- then it sounds like you've got it pretty good to me!

Rosie O'Donnell Helped Save Suicide Blonde's Life

Happy to see that Michelle Rounds, aka Rosie O'Donnell's estranged wife, is up and about following a suicide attempt on Tuesday. TMZ reports that Rounds was distraught about losing custody of the couple's 2-year-old daughter and that it was a quick-thinking O'Donnell who got authorities to Rounds' hotel room when she indicated she planned to take her own life -- and that O'Donnell stayed on the phone with her ex until help arrived. Major lesbian drama. Here's wishing everyone well.

Rosie O’Donnell’s Estranged Wife Hospitalized After Suicide Attempt

Radar Online is reporting that Rosie O'Donnell's estranged wife, Michelle Rounds, was recently hospitalized after a suicide attempt in a hotel room, about a week after photos surfaced of her ex on a "romantic getaway" with new girlfriend Tatum O'Neal. Not sure how much of this to believe -- Rounds has always seemed flaky and I'm not convinced Tatum and Rosie's aren't just friends -- but there's one thing I am sure of: Rosie has had a rough couple of months, between her custody battle with Rounds, her father's passing and her daughter running away.

Rosie O'Donnell's Missing Daughter, 17, Was Found With Convicted Heroin Dealer She Met on Tinder -- UPDATE

Disturbing update from The Daily Mail on Rosie O'Donnell's daughter.
The schoolgirl daughter of TV comedian Rosie O'Donnell spent several days in the company of a man convicted of drug offences and who had been arrested for endangering a child, Mail Online can reveal tonight. Chelsea O'Donnell, 17, met known criminal Steve Sheerer through the online dating app Tinder, it can be disclosed. When she was apprehended at a house in Village Drive, Barnegat, New Jersey, last night, the runaway who had been the subject of an appeal by her mother, tried to hide in an attic with her puppy Bear. Sheerer, 25, first told officers she was not inside the property, but he was known to police officers who knew they could not accept his word at face value. Patrolman Nicholas Dapuzzo entered the property and found the teenager, wearing a black zip up hoodie, white shirt and jean shorts, huddled in the attic with her dog. She was unharmed and of 'sound mind and body' but it is the Mail's revelation that she was with a man with a drugs record who she met on social media that is likely to alarm her mother most. It has been established that Chelsea, who went 'missing' on August 11 after leaving her family home in Nyack, New York, spent the first few days in New York City. She then headed for Penn Station in Manhattan and boarded a bus arriving in Barnegat 'Thursday-ish' she told police.

Glad this has a happy ending -- and here's hoping the younger Ms. O'Donnell gets the help she needs.

The Daily News reports:
It was Rosie O’Donnell’s public plea for help in finding her missing mentally ill daughter that led to the 17-year-old’s swift return, police said Wednesday. Chelsea O'Donnell went missing on Aug. 11, and was found at a home in Long Beach, N.J., hours after her mom issued a desperate public plea for her daughter to come home. “It has not been easy, for any mother of a child with mental illness, or all the siblings,” mother of five O'Donnell told The News on Tuesday night, after Chelsea was found safe and sound at a residence in Barnegat Light. Sgt. Daniel Wilson described the disappearance as a “runaway situation.” He said Chelsea had been in contact with her mom “through third parties” in the days after she left their South Nyack home. “She wasn't divulging her location. They were very brief contacts, just, statements were made, I'm not sure of the particulars,” Wilson said. “She said she was not saying where she was." The troubled teen also “did not give any indication” as to why she left home, he said. O’Donnell reported her daughter as missing on Sunday, and then tweeted and asked for help finding her daughter on her website on Tuesday. “Chelsea stopped taking her medicine and is in need of medical attention,” the statement on her site said. She also tweeted a picture of her daughter and her six-month-old therapy dog, Bear, who Chelsea had taken with her.

Cilic Marin-ates Nishikori for U.S. Open Title

This post should be about the devastatingly overpowering performance Marin Cilic gave in defeating Kei Nishikori for his first Grand Slam title, but all I can think about his Mary Carillo's hilarious mom hair.

I haven't seen something that bad since Rosie O'Donnell went lesbo-New Wave back in the day!

Hey, Mary Carillo: Amanda Bearse called and she wants her hair back.
