Falcon Rising
Finally saw Michael Stabile's well-crafted "Seed Money," which documents the rise, fall and rise of Falcon Studios founder Chuck Holmes. Like many gay men of his generation, he had a complicated relationship with his sexuality and those who surrounded him, but ultimately found (bought?) acceptance within the gay rights movement. Although I loved every second of it -- there are plenty of clips from his classics like "The Other Side of Aspen" and scenes with Falcon legends Rex Chandler and Kevin Williams, plus a contemporaneous interview with Falcon's biggest star of all, Jeff Stryker -- somehow the whole didn't seem greater than the sum of its parts. It's a slight film -- just an hour and 14 minutes -- and definitely worth a watch. But perhaps not surprisingly a dive into the world of porn reveals just how shallow even the deep end is.
