A Bird in the Hand ...

October Surprise?

Unexpected good news for President Obama that the unemployment rate had dropped to its lowest level since 2009 were met with sour grapes from Jack Welch, who tweeted that the job numbers had been faked to help the president's re-election campaign. ("These Chicago guys will do anything...can't debate so change numbers") Welch is right. First the birth certificate, then the presidential polls and now this. It's like ya gotta be a black man in this country to get a ahead.

The GIF That Wouldn't Start Giving

Says The Daily Show: Last night’s debate summed up in one GIF.

And then there's this:

An Urgent Personal Message From David Mixner

My pal and activist David Mixner would like to have a word with you about last night's debate, and what we need to do to "get the job done":
Never have we as a community been so close to full equality and never have we been so close to losing it all in this election. No matter how we would want the world to be this morning, it makes no difference. Our lives, our future and our freedom are at stake in this election. Don't play with it. Don't be high and mighty about it. Don't blame someone else about it. As a dear friend always reminds me, "It is what it is". Just do what the courageous and noble LGBT community have always done in the times of adversity. Fight back. Fight hard. Ignore the odds. Show others how it is done. Most importantly take this nation to a new place in its politics, hearts and values.
Read HERE.

Also: Despite the way we are portrayed in the media, not all gays are rich urbanites with tons of disposable income. So if you're looking to help the Obama campaign, but you're on a budget, you might consider making a $5 donation through A Lincoln for Obama HERE. Small donations were the way he did it in 2008, and they could make the difference in these final weeks of 2012.

Say Anything

This is what the Etch-a-Sketch looks like tonight. Not sure where President Obama was. He let Mitt Romney lie over and over and over again and never called him out once. He never fought back and explained the $716 million cut from Medicare or that it's the exact same cut as Paul Ryan's. He even let Romney commandeer the role as advocate for the middle class. The fact checkers are having a field day with Romney's answers, but the sad thing is the American people don't care. I know it's easy to beat someone when you can say anything -- and clearly Obama underestimated Romney's willingness to change his view on a dime ("$5 trillion tax cut? What $5 trillion tax cut?") -- but it just seemed like the president wasn't even engaged in the debate. I thought John Kerry was Obama's practice partner, but based on his head down and stammering, you'd have thought he worked with Caroline Kennedy. If Romney is going to promise the American people that you can eat cake and lose weight, Obama had better put his gym clothes on.

UPDATE: Read what my pal Hank Plante has to say about this "Democratic disaster" HERE. To be clear, I don't think this debate was a game changer. I'm just pissed that the president wasn't more aggressive. I was begging for Rachel Maddow to pinch hit all night long!!!!
