I've been on a bit of Scottish band bender -- mostly listening to Texas, whom I vaguely knew because of their Altered Images connection yet mostly missed the first time around. I asked a music friend if he was a fan, which in turn prompted him to mention his being on a Deacon Blue kick -- which reminded me of this sweet 1988 single. Crazy to think 'Real Gone Kid' is about the former singer of Lone Justice, who has since transitioned into a needlessly disgruntled if well-intentioned LGBTQ+ grandmother from Beverly Hills(!) with white savior tendencies.
