The pandemic has the ATP and WTA seriously considering merging. I don't know enough about the ins and outs of the business of the sport. But something tells me the added power the women might gain by combining will ultimately backfire -- suddenly rendering them small(er) fish in a big(ger) pond. (Perhaps the reaction Roger Federer's tweet about the idea shows best why it hasn't happened.) In he meantime, still lots of other "tennis" news to share ...

Not-so-little-Ali Jo-Wilfried Tsonga won his first ATP title since 2017, beating fellow Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert 6-4, 6-2 to capture the Open Sud de France in Montpellier. Herbert, the seventh seed, was aiming for his first ATP singles title, but Tsonga only dropped four points on his serve. The 33-year-old was only in Montpellier courtesy of a wildcard. His last victory was in Antwerp in October 2017 -- he's just the right age to win his first major, right? 

Serious, THAT ASS!

ESPN reports that Russian Daniil Medvedev brushed aside Hungary's Marton Fucsovics 6-4, 6-3 on Sunday to win the Sofia Open title. No. 3 seed Medvedev, who turned 23 today, was at his devastating best as he gave the hapless Hungarian a brutal lesson to claim his fourth career title. Attacking the lines with machine-like precision, Medvedev was in complete control and broke the unseeded heartthrob, who won his maiden title in Geneva last year, four times. The world No. 16 converted his first championship point after breaking Fucsovics's serve to love. "I'm happy to win the title -- this is what I came here for," said Medvedev, who flew to Rotterdam today alongside Fucsovics on Monday to take part in the ATP event there.

Marton Fucsovics, who turned 27 last week, hit with Alexander Donski before his final in Sofia. 

Worth noting that the heart throb Hungarian knocked out Andreas Seppi, Roberto Bautista-Agut and Matteo Berrettini -- who upset No. 1 seed Karen Khachanov -- to get to the final. (And guess which two of those match-ups I found lube-worthy!)



And where do we start about this Croatian piece of ass, not to mention Juergen?

Guido Pella collapsed in an all-Argentine final against frosted qualifying cutie Juan Ignacio Londero, losing 6-1 in the third in the Cordoba Open, after being up a set and a break against someone who had zero wins in an ATP main draw before this week. Pella, who has now lost four ATP finals in a row, set up the sexy showdown with a three-set victory over Pablo Cuevas after Londero defeated Federico Delbonis earlier on Saturday. Seeded eighth, Pella -- who upstaged Diego Schwartzman on Friday -- outlasted Cuevas 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 at the ATP 250 tournament.

Pella may have lost, but he still looks like this. (His Instagram account is still a bit too fishy for me, though.) And Robert Farah is still a shirtless ATTENTION WHORE.

In Fed Cup action, French Open champion Simona Halep, who has vowed to help Romania win its first Fed Cup before she retires, dug deep to beat Karolina Pliskova 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 to set the tone for a 3-2 win over the Czech Republic team, who have won the crown six times since 2011.

The top-ranked players from Belarus and France helped send each nation through to the Fed Cup semifinals on Sunday. And Australia held tight to lead the Aussies to a 3-2 win over the U.S., who had Madison Keys and Danielle Collins on board.
