I didn't see what prompted this comment from the older man, but I don't see anything wrong with reminding the younger that courtesy to his elders is a practice he may one day come to appreciate. I agree that taste is individual and we can't alter that for one another - in Latin "de gustibus non est disputandem"- but courtesy and good manners apply to all. Be polite to everyone, even those you don't seek to sleep with. After all, why not?
Completely agree. I just find some people go from 0 to 70 from a non-response, which is (proper, I think) app etiquette for "not interested."
