Facial Ticked: Maybe this article on the "barely there beard" will finally help people see that I am not, in fact, sporting a 1996 goatee. (Details)
Thoroughly Modern Mickey: Disney recently made a positive move in gay parenting acceptance -- by treating the issue as no big deal. In announcing this year's Disney Moms Panel -- an online forum where a handful of parents, including a few Disney Dads, picked by The Mouse answer questions and offer advice about planning family vacations to Walt Disney World -- the company included its first openly gay dad. For a conservative organization like Disney, this is a pretty bold move as the panel is heavily marketed and used across the entire country as well as internationally. The panel is also featured on the main Disney parks planning Web site. (Disney)
'Real' Tired: Over a belated birthday dinner with my friend Jay last night at BLT Burger I came to the conclusion that the reason I no longer watch "The Real Housewives of Orange County" -- once a must-see show in my house that the two of us would talk about endlessly -- is because I simply can't tolerate Vicki anymore. (Anyone else had enough?) A bunch of them are still on my DVR (plus they're on 24 hours a day), so I guess there's still a potential change of heart, but I'm not counting on it. And don't even get me started about that Tamra. (Drawing by David/Pretty on the Outside)
Repealing DADT: The Pentagon is stepping up internal discussions on how gay men and lesbians might be able to serve openly in the armed services, military officials said on Thursday, in anticipation of fulfilling President Obama’s campaign pledge to repeal the “don’t ask, don’t tell” law. (Suddenly it feels like it's 1993 all over again.) (NYT)
Prop 8 Trial: On Wednesday afternoon, lawyers for the plaintiffs in Perry v. Schwarzenegger focused on the social impact of same-sex marriages. On Thursday, the discussion turned to economics. Read trial highlights on the Bay Area blog HERE.
Book Pirates: Maybe my book-agent friend was wrong about the threat of illegal downloads of e-books. (ArtsBeat)
Moore, Moore, Moore: The lovely Julianne Moore sits down to discuss "A Single Man," making out with gay boys, and the time she bitch-slapped Madonna. (Advocate)
Stuff Your Ballot: A judge in D.C. rules against a proposed marriage referendum, led by crackpot Michele Bachmann. (WaPo)
Teddy Bear: The legendary Teddy Pendergrass gets the royal New York Times obituary treatment. (NYT)
Vicki has become somewhat self-aware this season. The thickness of her delusion and self-satisfaction bubble was formidable...but she seems to finally realize that she can circumvent all those "it's editing" complaints by actually behaving like a decent human being when the cameras are on.
But the heart and soul of the show left with Jeana (and to some extent Laurie).
Could you imagine RHONY without Jill Zarin? There would be no show.
I certainly know what *I* would be working on. More BELOW .

Julianne Moore is a goddess! Sad to hear about Teddy. He really was a good soul with massive talent.
Teddy is/was one of the great R & B singers of all time. Turn out the Lights, and My Latest and My Greatest Inspiration are two of my favorites.
