"Make Me a Supermodel" runner-up Ronnie Kroell is INSTINCT magazine's cover man for September, and I don't think they could have made a better choice -- even if this photo leaves a bit to be desired (more like Make Me a Bicarbonate). I hear the rest of Bruno Rand's pictorial is "gorgeous" and with the mag's new fashion director Sean Krebs involved, I don't doubt it for a minute. Look for it on newsstands soon ...

Last night the adorable Ronnie Kroell survived yet another vote on Bravo's ludicrous "Make Me a Supermodel." Ronnie, who is featured in this month's Genre, has certainly won my heart. Not only is his "complicated" relationship with straight guy Ben rather titillating to watch, he's the first openly gay person on one of these shows who I actually think is 10 times hotter than the other boys. (I'm sorry, but Matt Lanter and Kevin Peake on "Manhunt" were way hotter than Ron Brown and Rob Williams. and the straight boys on "The Real World," "Big Brother," "Road Rules" and so on are always hotter too. No offense, guys.) Maybe I'm not as homophobic in my taste in men after all -- I just hadn't met the right guy? Whatever the case may be, Ronnie's a winner through and through. He's handled himself with poise and class through it all. Before he got home from the elimination round on last night's show, challenger Holly told the other models that she thinks Ronnie is "fake" (might I be missing something?). But I don't trust anyone who sound like they need to blow their nose 24 hours a day, so I'll still be rooting for him till the end ...

Calling Out Gay Gate-Keepers in Hollywood for Sexual Harassment

Boy Culture wrote up charged posts by Ronnie Kroell, who made a name for himself in LGBT circles on the reality show "Make Me a Supermodel," and filmmaker Duncan Roy, who take gay Hollywood to task for its problem with sexual harassment, with Roy going so far as to name Bryan Singer, Bruce Weber, Terry Richardson.

Sexual harassment is obviously wrong in all of its forms. And I think it's valuable for male victims to speak out in solidarity. But while these entertainment-related abuses of power may be equally ruinous for men and women when it comes to their careers, I don't think it's apples to apples as far as trauma for male and female victims. Women are a thousand times more vulnerable physically. And the threat of rape or bodily harm -- and actual rape and bodily harm -- is a far cry from having your ass pinched at a party or a crude proposition, however wrong those also are.

No, this isn't a pissing contest. But sometimes I think it's important to keep things in perspective -- and male privilege is something women would kill for in these scenarios.

Tuesday Ad Watch

Reality TV may not have quite made him a supermodel, a grossly over/misused term for a select group of females in the business. But Ronnie Kroell is one of the few contestants on one of those shows who's become a working model -- and work it nicely he does. Next up for Ronnie? A full-frontal Playgirl spread is due in May.

Survival Instinct

While it sure feels like gay media is on its last legs, there was no sign of aging at INSTINCT magazine's Leading Men 2009 party downtown at Greenhouse, where editor in chief Mike Wood & Co. celebrated 12 years of success as they toasted "heroes in our community who stand up and stand out." From the busy red carpet (Ronnie Kroell and Scott Evans were spotted) to the roomful of well-deserving honorees (I got to meet Joe Jervis of Joe.My.God. fame, whom the mag calls "the not-so-average Joe"), it was a memorable night. (So glad Frank and Craig stopped by, and that the legendary Scooter and Christopher came along for a red carpet burn.) That the music was SO FUCKING LOUD you couldn't think (let alone talk), the staff was a bunch of surly chicks, and it was hotter than hell in the place and I still had a great time tells you that the party was really good (WHERE did all these new guys come from? Woof!). Oh, and fitness model/bartender Anton Antipov parading around with angel wings slapped on his back may have had something to do with my overall heavenly mood. Congrats to INSTINCT, and here's looking forward to the next dozen years. ...

What do "Make Me a Supermodel" contestant Ronnie Kroell and presidential wannabe Hillary Rodham Clinton have in common? Well, mostly likely they're both runners-up in very close contests. I do admire his -- and her -- passion though (I'm still fighting the fight too). There's a great article in today's Times about the three possible outcomes of today's primaries in Indiana and North Carolina: she wins both; he wins both; they split 'em. And Jodi Kantor's story -- With Right Props and Stops, Clinton Transforms Into Working-Class Hero -- is one of the most unintentionally intentionally hilarious political pieces I've read in years:

"Whatever the results of the primaries on Tuesday in Indiana and North Carolina, Mrs. Clinton has accomplished the seemingly impossible in those states. Somehow, a woman who has not regularly filled her own gasoline tank in well over a decade, who with her husband made $109 million in the last eight years and who vacations with Oscar de la Renta, has transformed herself into a working-class hero. ... She has made her case at all the right stops (an auto-racing hall of fame) and used all the right props (lately delivering speeches from pickup beds)."

'Dinner for Schmucks' Red Carpet Arrivals

Although it stars two guys I love and is directed by the great Jay Roach (aka Mr. Susanna Hoffs), I must say "Dinner for Schmucks" doesn't look very tasty to me. Of course, I am basing this on the poster (Steve Carell with blond hair? PUNCH!), the same technique that led me to falsely assume "Meet the Parents" would suck (it was HILARIOUS!). Nonetheless, the guys looked great at the premiere last night at the Ziegfeld Theatre, as you can see here:
