Weekend Tennis Roundup

Titles for Fritz, Tabilo, Kasatkina and Shnaider on the Saturday before Wimbledon. Full report plus all the ATP beef that's fit to post BELOW.

Taylor Fritz completed his Eastbourne hat-trick Saturday at the Rothesay International, where the American became the first three-time champion in tournament history. The 26-year-old did not lose a set en route to his eighth tour-level title, defeating Australian Max Purcell 6-4, 6-3 in the final. The victory will return the department-store heir to being the No. 1 ranked American come Monday.

Alejandro Tabilo became the first Chilean man to win a grass-court title in the Open Era with his Saturday victory at the Mallorca Championships.

The 27-year-old defeated Austrian Sebastian Ofner 6-3, 6-4 to win the second title of both the 2024 season and his career.

Russian Diana Shnaider captured her second title of 2024, and of her Hologic WTA Tour career on Sunday at the Bad Homburg Open with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 win over Donna Vekic.

Daria Kasatkina warded off a spirited performance by Leylah Fernandez to win the Eastbourne International in straight sets. The Russian sixth seed triumphed 6-3 6-4 as she secured her seventh WTA title in one hour 50 minutes at Devonshire Park.

Neal Skupski and Michael Venus continued their hot streak by backing up Queen’s success with another men’s doubles crown at Eastbourne. The in-form pair came from a set and a break down to beat John Peers and Matthew Ebden 4-6 7-6(2) 11-9 in the Sussex showpiece for their second tournament victory in as many weeks

Julian Cash and Robert Galloway earned their second title of the season Saturday when they triumphed at the Mallorca Championships. The British-American duo surged to a 6-4, 6-4 victory against Diego Hidalgo and Alejandro Tabilo. Tabilo was pulling double duty after winning the singles title earlier in the day.
