Weekend Tennis Roundup

Titles for Hurkacz, Berrettini, Shelton, Collins and Osorio, plus Christian Harrison and his hot doubles partner put on quite a show at the pool BELOW.

Not even the change to the slower surface of clay can stop the serve of Hubert Hurkacz. The Pole deployed his booming delivery to great effect Sunday at the Estoril Open, where he overcame Pedro Martinez 6-3, 6-4 in the championship match to lift his eighth ATP Tour title. Hurkacz sent down 15 aces in a classy one-hour, 27-minute display as he stepped into the winners’ circle at a tour-level event on clay for the first time.

Matteo Berrettini beat Roberto Carballes Baena in straight sets to win a first title in almost two years. The Italian eased past his Spanish opponent with a 7-5 6-2 victory at the Grand Prix Hassan II in the Moroccan city of in Marrakesh.

Nonethless, Roberto didn't look like a loser to me

Ben Shelton arrived in Houston with a 2-7 tour-level record on clay and a five-match losing streak on the surface. The top-seeded American will leave the U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championship with the trophy. Shelton on Sunday battled past defending champion Frances Tiafoe 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 to triumph at the ATP 250 event. The 21-year-old became the youngest champion at the tournament since 19-year-old Andy Roddick in 2002.

Gonzalo Escobar and Aleksandr Nedovyesov won the doubles title in Estoril

Harri Heliövaara and dreamy Henry Patten won the doubles in Marrakesh

Another week, another trophy for Danielle Collins. The unseeded American won her 13th straight match and her second straight title with a commanding 6-2, 6-1 victory over No.4 seed Daria Kasatkina in the Credit One Charleston Open final on Sunday.

Camila Osorio upset top-seeded Marie Bouzková to win the title in Bogota, 6-3, 7-6(5)
