Weekend Tennis Roundup

Despite my constant bitching about the sport, I must say I have been enjoying the past week's action across the pond -- and not just because everyone on the premises looks like these boys in the royal box. Keep reading BELOW

Move over, strawberries and cream: Pablo Cuevas and Jiri Vesely

With the exception of Viktorija Golubic -- who broke my heart by beating Madison Keys, whose days as a contender seem to be numbered -- I'd be fine with any of these women winning. Barty would probably be best for the stability of the game. Sabalenka or Pliskova would make sense as they're the two best left to have never won a major. And Ons Jabeur would probably be the most exciting. Damian has been joking that Muchova will probably win it all and it's certainly looking like a possibility, although Angie is hitting the ball again like when she humiliated Serena a couple times.

UPDATE: Now this is a final four. Three current/former No. 1s and the No. 2 seed. Was that so difficult?!!!

Very excited for Berrettini, Auger-Aliassime, Fucsovics and Shapovalov for getting through to the final eight. And while it sucks for Medvedev that his match is dragging into Tuesday, I'm not sure any of it makes much difference with Djokovic looming large.

Karen Khachanov is (finally) having a moment

After missing the French Open because of positive Covid tests, Nikola Mektic (and partner Mate Pavic) are now into the quarters at Wimbledon, where they ran into another No. 1 player from the former Yugoslavia

Laslo Djere seems to have put Wimbledon behind him

Juan Monaco's got it, flaunts it

Maybe Taylor Fritz traded in his baby mama for this one because there's no way a transwoman can get pregnant
