Eye Somehow Didn't See This Coming

First subway ride in ages. Got an eye exam and new glasses  and stopped by work. Have never seen the newsroom completely empty!

That's the late/great David Rakoff's "Uncollected" book at my optometrist's office!

But then ...

My elderly mom (the inimitable Molly) and stepdad in Arizona have been cautious yet both tested positive Tuesday. (I only found out today — my mother didn’t want to worry me.) I am worried sick -- she was right! -- but symptoms have been fairly mild thus far (aches, exhaustion but no fever or difficulty breathing). Be safe, everyone. ❤️☘️šŸ™

Sorry to hear that. I hope your parents get well.

Sorry to hear about your parents. Please encourage them to talk to their doctor about monoclonal antibodies. I heard in interviews on CNN and MSNBC that there's a lot of supply, and it supposedly greatly reduces the chance of sudden downturns and speeds up recovery. The best time to get it is supposedly within 10 days of testing positive.

Major David Rakoff fan here. Can you let us know who your optometrist is?

Speedy recovery to Mom...I do COVID-19 Case Investigations and Contact Tracing...I had one lady, like your Mom, who was pissed when she contracted COVID because she did everything she knew to protect herself-gloves, mask, handwashing, social distancing, limiting her social circle-and she came down with it. Mild case I mind you but she was pissed.
