Music Box: Lissy Trullie

In my grumpy advanced age, I've taken to pretty much skipping all opening acts. (Half the time, it's all I can do to get myself to go to the main act!) But while searching for the logistics for tonight's Blondie show at Highline Ballroom -- and realizing I may just have to get there promptly to ensure a good spot -- I noticed there was indeed an warm-up, someone called Lissy Trullie. So instead of having a Lissy fit, I decided to poke around YouTube to see what I was in for -- and what a surprise to realize she's pretty fantastic!

She -- they? -- has a record named "Self-Taught Learner," which hints at the music's playful nature. From what little I've heard so far, she kind of reminds me of a cross between Garbage and Elastica with a dash of Patti Smith (if she'd been a fashion model). (Kind of ironic given that the last time I was forced to sit through an opening act it was at Highline, where the Submarines came out before Aimee Mann and immediately submerged me in high-fructose corn syrup delight. I came up for air and bought both their albums on the way out the door.) Listen to these two and tell me you're not in love with Lissy, too!
