Foot in My Mouth

While I must give her credit for keeping her so-called shoes on, this is how the chick in the theater is sitting next to me at the 10:15 showing of "The Kids Are All Right." Really??? What kind of person acts like this in public?

The world is my ottoman! The poles in Metro cars are never without the feet of those who hijack the "handicapped" seats. The "handicapped" seats, when not hijacked, are never without the feet of the people in the first row of real seats. (And, not that it's an infringement, but the dashboards of the vehicles I pass are never without the feet of the people in the passenger seats.) In short, the moms of the world have apparently given up on teach us to sit like little ladies and gentlemen.

The fluidity of private lives means that private behaviour is seeping into semi-public arenas, such as movie theatres.

Have no fear of re-drawing behaviour boundries in favour of public behaviour - polite and circumspect/respectful of others.

I do it by telling people in a loud voice to turn off their phones. Last time I did this it was in a play - the woman concerned was mortified, and in the break switched seats with her boyfriend. Who I thought was going to thump me but I held the trump card - an ability to say something loud in a theatre.

Maybe, as you say, she's a "retard"', but isn't there a prohibition against using your cellphone during the movie?

The photo was taken before the film started, not that taking one during the film would be considered "using" a cell phone during the film.

Once sat through "Hairspray" in London with a troll of a teenage b**** sitting next to me - texting her friends throughout the preformance. To add insult to injury, her troll parents were next to her and said nothing!!
I pity her kids in the next generation!!

Take an entire generation of self-indulgent cretins who feel entitled to anything and everything they want, mix in a massive explosion of telecommunications technology and social media devices, and you have a foolproof recipe for catastrophe. Pretty soon, going postal on these inconsiderate dingbats will be the only rational response. Time to reload...

Sadly, crass, crude and boorish behavior is a given these days.

How did you like the movie?

This is one of the many reasons I typically steer clear of the movie theatre and invested in a nice system for home. People are just so f*$%ing inconsiderate and act like heathens.

Can we go back to the 1800s and have public flogging again? I'm all for it - and not in a good way!!!

taking a picture with your phone during a movie is TOTALLY using a phone. I hate when people text during a movie, especially when they're sitting in front of me, aiming their screen at their face and mine -- those screens are BRIGHT!

Though, i see you said you took the pic before the movie (and hopefully before the trailers too -- i love the trailers.)

Was she overlapping into your seat? I can't quite tell from this pic.
