Song of the Day: 'Let Me Pass By' by Peggy Lipton
After reading a Peggy Lipton appreciation in a year-in-review obituary roundup, I learned that in addition to portraying the iconic Julie Barnes on my afterschool fave "The Mod Squad" and Norma Jennings -- owner of the Double R Diner on "Twin Peaks" -- the former model and mother of Rashida Jones also released an album back in 1968. (Three of her singles "Stoney End" and "Lu" -- both written by Laura Nyro -- as well as a cover Donovan's "Wear Your Love Like Heaven" all reached the lower end of the Billboard charts.) Needless to say, the discovery sent me into a Peggy rabbit hole, wondering how a copy never caught my eye in any of the countless used-record bins I've perused over the past 40 years!
