Remembing Don Perry, Chick-fil-A's Longtime PR Honcho

Some thoughts on the late Don Perry, Chick-fil-A's longtime spokesman, from two PR flacks in the know:

"Don did a good job of keeping the crazypants nonsense of the company’s views off the mainstream news cycle for a long time. Everybody ‘knew’ where they stood, they just weren’t as blatant about it until this latest interview, which for all we know took him by great surprise. That may be over simplifying things though. I know he was highly respected by his peers (straight and gay alike), which says a lot about his character."

"He was a black man, which always surprised me that Truett (founder) allowed him to progress so far in the company (VP)."
