Thursday Ad Watch

That's Jason Shaw in the Tommy Hilfiger ads, above and below. The University of Chicago grad (degree in history and played on the men's basketball team) used to date Paris Hilton before she was simply a Page Six fixture. I don't know about her, but I still haven't gotten over him.

This is Guess above and below on the right. This isn't the first time they've caught my eye in recent weeks. The underwear ad below makes me feel like a pervert just looking at it.

Here are two recent classics, Rafael Verga for 2(x)ist and Hot Daddy for BVD.

This week's eye-catching advertisements.

Favorite Bartender: Marcello Diaz

Saving this old issue of the gay rag HX was a no-brainer -- that's hunky Marcello on the cover, our favorite bartender at G Lounge, around the corner from my apartment. From 1998 till 2002, my friend Jay and I didn't miss at single Thursday night at G (come to think of it, we didn't miss too many other days of the week either), and staring at Marcello (who's as sweet as he is sexy) was always one of our favorite activities of the night. I was at G just a few months ago and Marcello is still working there -- and looking hotter than ever ...

The Purrrfect Picture

I found this in the sex column of an old copy of GQ. It's funny, because it's exactly like the drawing I suggested to my editor at Instinct for my "The Boyfriend or the Cat" article -- give or take a vagina -- but they opted for a stunt cat instead.

Weekend at Billy's

I remember how funny it was when this magazine arrived in my mailbox. A couple of years beforehand my friend Jay had invited me to be his plus-one for a weekend at a friend's house in the Hamptons and Chip and Reichen (who was introduced to me as Rick when I met him) were staying in the same house. We were all there to attend a gay-fabulous pool party that weekend at a nearby home. I recall that they both seemed like nice guys, very into SpongeBob SquarePants(!), very excited about planning their big wedding in Bel Air (I believe) at the time, and that all of their friends used to tease Rick Reichen about "taking 9 hours to get ready in the bathroom" every day. The next time I heard or thought of them again they were on their way to winning "The Amazing Race," and shortly thereafter to divorce court ... Little did I know that "knowing" someone who was on a reality show would soon become such a normal thing.
