Remains of the Day (11/05)

Caladon Books: A friend pointed me to "Trippy: The Peril and Promise of Medicinal Psychedelics" by the journalist Ernesto Londoño, saying: "He is brilliant and fearless. It's amazing that a New York Times foreign (and domestic) correspondent can write a book these days about his experiences with depression and psychedelic drugs and casually talk about the many men he hooked up with on Grindr." Any of you read it?

Hot Cat of the Day: All of us the next 24-48 hours

Sitcom heaven: In memory of Bob Newhart, I've been watching his two short-lived '90s sitcoms -- "Bob" and "George & Leo" -- and marveling at just how gifted he was, regardless of the material. In the process, I took a liking to Darryl Theirse  -- who played Ambrose, a sharp-tongued clerk in the fictional Summer Street bookstore on the latter who holds his own with sitcom royalty Newhart and Judd Hirsch -- and was saddened to learn he'd been mysteriously found dead in his apartment in 2009 at just 42. If anyone knows what happened -- perhaps it's been figured out in the ensuing years -- I would love to hear from you. A true "gone too soon" figure.

The only reason I might go see Wicked is Jonathan Bailey

Jonathan Bailey in the West End production of Company 2018. It looks like they spray painted his pants on.
