Personal 

Started playing tennis at age 6 with family, while living in the Dominican Republic. 

Mother, Carmen, is a documentary photographer, and father, Jorge, works in the stock market. Brothers Mateo and Beltran. 

Speaks Spanish and English. 

Competed for four years at UC Santa Barbara (2015-19), earning All-American honors and graduating with a degree in international relations. 

Tennis idol is Rafael Nadal and favorite athlete is Usain Bolt. 

Fan of Real Madrid and hobbies include golf, skiing, kitesurfing, and soccer. 

Perfect day without tennis is to be outdoors and spend time by the ocean and in the mountains. 

Dream job is oceanographer. 

Also competed in sailing as a child in the Dominican Republic, before moving to London and devoting himself to tennis at age 10. 

Favorite musician is Frank Ocean. 

Favorite food is "cocido madrileno," a Spanish stew. 

Guilty pleasure is eating acai bowls. 

His mottos are "If it was easy, everyone would do it" and "Greatness is not inherited, it is earned." 

Missed six months in 2022 with torn abdominal and soleus muscles.

Career

Qualified for 1st career Grand Slam main draw at 2023 U.S. Open, saving 2match pts. in final set Match TB against De Loore to prevail 14-12 . 

Had never played in a tour-level main draw and lost in final round of qualifying at 2023 Roland Garros (l. to Karatsev). 

Lost in Grand Slam qualifying tournaments 5 times, including last round at 2022 Wimbledon (l. to Marterer). 

Has compiled a 29-16 record on ATP Challenger Tour in 2023 and reached a career-high ranking of No. 130 on 21 August. 

Won 2nd career title at Tyler, USA (d. Kukushkin) and runner-up at Chennai, IND (l. to Purcell) and Cary-1, USA(l. to Walton). 

Has a 55-38 career ATP Challenger Tour record (30-15 on hard, 25-22 on clay), advancing to his 1st final at 2022 Salinas, ECU (l. to Gomez) and later in season won 1st title at Braga POR as a qualifier (d. Pucinelli De Almeida) on clay.. 

Has an 84-43 career ITF World Tennis Tour record with 3 titles (49-27 on hard, 30-16 on clay). 

Lost his first 4 finals and then won his next 3 finals in a 5 tournament span in 2021. 

Played collegiately for 4 years at UC-Santa Barbara from 2015-16 to 2018-19 seasons and graduated in Environmental Science. 

He is school's most recent All-American (3rd overall in Gaucho tennis history) and was the Big West Player of the Year in 2018-19, as well as Freshman of the Year in 2016. 

He was named an All-Conference player in both singles and doubles all 4 years.

Why is it that every time I see Novak anti-vax comes to mind. Yes, he is a great tennis player BUT to me, this speaks volumes.

I know nothing about tennis. Hell, I don't know how the scoring goes. Nice young men in the best shape of their lives having fun-hopefully. I support your enthusiasm for the game.
