'Remember My Name'

I happened to walk past the famed "Fame" high school on my way home from catsitting yesterday and it got me wondering if Irene Cara's cause of death had ever been released.

The short answer is yes. I must have missed it at the time: The Oscar and Grammy winner died from high blood pressure, high cholesterol and also had diabetes. No, she was never "gonna live forever." But this bothers me given that she was just 63 -- these conditions sound manageable to me with proper healthcare, something far too many Americans lack. Breaks my heart that she died largely forgotten, reportedly becoming "a recluse" living in Largo, Fla.

On a cheerier note: Fun to read that past attendees of Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School and its legacies -- the High School of Music & Art and School of Performing Arts (PA) -- include Suzanne Pleshette, Diahann Carroll, Eartha Kitt, Jackee Harry, Shari Lewis, Janis Ian, Carole Bayer Sager, Marilyn Bergman, Timothée Chalamet, Chaz Bono, Suzanne Vega, Steven Weber, Dom DeLuise and Billy Dee Williams, among many others.

Who knows what was going on in her life - but yes it was a sand ending

I have all of those conditions, too. Hopefully, I will at least make it to that ripe old age.
