I'm not sure what someone was on when they conceived this album. But from what I've heard so far, getting Michael Feinstein to turn the George Gershwin songbook country -- with help from Amy Grant, Lyle Lovett, Alison Krauss, Ronnie Milsap, Liza Minnelli, Brad Paisley, Dolly Parton and my gal Rosanne Cash and more -- was a humdinger of an idea!

"Gershwin Country" is a brand-new duets collection from the Grammy and Emmy-nominated entertainer Michael Feinstein, who reimagines the timeless Gershwin songbook through the contemporary lens of country music. Executive produced by his longtime friend and collaborator Liza Minnelli, and co-produced by the venerable Kyle Lehning, the album pairs Feinstein with some of the biggest names in country, including Dolly Parton, Alison Krauss, Brad Paisley, Rosanne Cash and many more. The CD package also includes a booklet with insightful new liner notes. A portion of all album proceeds will benefit MusiCares, the charitable wing of the Recording Academy, which provides critical health and welfare services to members of the music community.

I love Cash. I love Krauss. They are the only two selections I've heard and I just can't even stand it. Feinstein is so incredibly smarmy and JFC, his next release will be a hip-hop release of the Gershwin material. It's all this man has, and he's gonna run into the ground because he can.
