Well this sure hurts. To commemorate what should have been Dolores O'Riordan's 50th birthday, the surviving members of the Cranberries released a new video yesterday for the song "Never Grow Old," featuring never-before-seen archival footage of the adorable frontwoman.
And there's more:
“In order to celebrate all that she inspired and the joy that she has given on her 50th Birthday, her bandmates, friends and family, have pulled together a brand new playlist called ‘Remembering Dolores’ which is available now on all streaming platforms,” the band wrote.
The playlist leads with today's SOTD, which was the opening track from the band’s fifth album ("Wake Up and Smell the Coffee").

Ouch! She had a disability that cost her life. Is this comment the way to honour her voice and memorialize her loss of life? Kenneth, you're better than this.
@Paul: Sorry, I don't buy into this "disability" nonsense. People learn to be addicts, and, with effort, they can learn not to be addicts, too. Like my father, she chose booze over life. Doesn't make her a bad person -- I'm still fondly remembering her music -- it's just a fact about who she was.

Fair enough although the verdict is far from hard-and-fast regarding nature vs nurture as it pertains to addictions. Likely, addictions are way more complex than simple genetics or learning. Either way, addiction disabled Dolores and cut her career & life short; the tragedy of which you write.
I acknowledge your pain at having been robbed of a father and offer condolences for this tragedy.
To memorailize Dolores' death with a comment that seems rooted in smoke from a different fire is the piece that feels unkind and unnecessary.
