Sophie's Television Choice

Not sure if anyone would even remember something like this -- pre-DVR, etc. -- or why I even think about such things, but would love to hear from others who have examples of TV-watching decisions that seem funny in retrospect. I recall watching "Jack & Jill" (on The WB!) instead of "Sex and the City" when they aired opposite each other, and my brother Bill laughed about watching "Anything but Love" -- aka "Anything but Ratings" -- over "Seinfeld"!

P.S. I recently made my hubby watch bootleg episodes of  "Jack & Jill" uploaded to YouTube and I still loved it -- baggy late '90s dress shirts aside. It features a green Sarah Paulson, which always makes me feel like I helped "discover" her, plus red-hot Simon Rex!

Well,"Jack & Jill" starred Simon Rex, the MTV VJ who, when he was 19, had done some lovely (solo) porn scenes for Brad Posey's "Young, Hard & Solo" video series, and Ivan Sergei, who was fresh from making a different kind of splash in the gay cult classic "The Opposite of Sex", with Christina Ricci, Martin Donovan, and Lisa Kudrow. (Sergei had also recently starred opposite Tori Spelling in a TV movie with the idiotic, incomprehensible, but unforgettable title, "Mother, May I Sleep with Danger?".)

So I had no difficulty deciding which show I wanted to watch during that time slot.
