Tennis Tuesday

With thanks to Will Kohler, who alerted me to the fact that actor James Franciscus was also a bit of a tennis jock. In 1970, the dashing star of "Mr. Novak" founded his namesake celebrity tennis tournament to raise money for multiple sclerosis research, in part due to his mother having suffered from the disease. He died of emphysema in 1991 at just 57.

Beautiful man - good actor- you can see him running around in a loin cloth in "Beneath Planet of the Apes"
