Aussie Openers

Matt Ebden has me excited -- remember THOSE GUNS? -- and rallied to beat Jan-Lennard Struff in a first round Battle of the Bodies to set up a clash with Rafael Nadal.

Kyle Edmund looked good. But his knee and tonsil(!) problems left him flat in his opener against a resurgent Tomas Berdych.

The loss of those semifinal points will hit the Brit's ranking hard ...

Reilly Opelka defeated No. 9 seed John Isner in the Battle of the Gland Freaks.

Congrats to the 21-year-old American!

No. 5 seed Sloane Stephens won her first match in five years(!) in Melbourne, beating Taylor Townsend, 6-4, 6-2.

After a trademark battle, Andy Murray bowed out in a 6-4, 6-4, 6-7, 6-7, 6-2 defeat to Roberto Bautista Agut. My hip hurt just watching. :-(

Novak Djokovic looked adorable on kids day. He plays American Mitchell Krueger tonight ...
