Liz Smith, Legendary Gossip Columnist, Is Dead at 94

Liz Smith, whose gossip columns in three New York City newspapers were some of the most read and powerful of all time, died Sunday at her home in Manhattan. She was 94. Although queer activists were not fans of willingness to give gay celebrities and homophobes cover -- while living in the closet herself -- she came from a different era and got there in the end. RIP, Liz. There will never be another.
