Billie Jean King,
No matter what, I don't think it's fair for female tennis players to receive the same prize money as male players if/when they are expected and train to play 2-3 sets, when male players must train to be ready and able to play at least three and often five sets. Of course, for those non-major tournaments that are best of three for all that is not an issue. But those majors are a different story. Women basketball players play games of the same length as men, female boxers fight the same length and number of rounds, female swimmers and runners must cover the same distance as men. Female golfers play the same number of holes as men. Why aren't female tennis players expected to play the same number of sets as male players? That is the only issue for me. All people, regardless of age, gender, nationality, and everything else, should be treated and paid equally for doing the same job. But best of three is not the same as best of five. It just isn't. That needs to change and then all would be fine.
