Love & (L.A.) Pride

Had a hoot marching for the first time ever in a gay pride parade, on Sunday in Los Angeles.

I hadn't been to the City of Angels' celebration since 1992, but with Wilson Phillips performing on the main stage on Saturday, it felt like time had stood still. The gals did a bubbly set of all their hits, nods to their parents' iconic bands, plus ABBA's "Dancing Queen"(!), which seemed like a failed attempt to distract the crowd from the fact that Carnie was wearing horizontal stripes.

Earlier in the day, I had brunch with my pal Danny Casillas, followed by a drink at a pool party at the Standard, Hollywood, where I stayed when I arrived. (The photo all the way up top was a guy we encountered en route to a competing pool party!)

Danny looked great poolside, but had even better accessories on Sunday during the big march.

My friend Greg Hernandez covered the parade for Gay Star News, so had a bird's-eye view of all the best moments ...

More pride hunks HERE.

On Friday my old roommate and good friend Paul and I had dinner at Marix -- of course -- then attended a party hosted by Cybersocket at the new Skynny Kitchen restaurant on Santa Monica Boulevard ...

where I was man-handled ...

Danny was doing color commentary from the parade sidelines, but managed to catch this photographic proof of my participation. I marched with the L.A. LGBT Center, where my friend Jim Key is the chief marketing officer. Met a bunch of his cool colleagues, too!

Although Jim knew that Channing Tatum and Matt Bomer were going to make a "surprise" appearance on the "Magic Mike XXL" float, marching prevented me from properly stalking either of them. Like fools, they were wearing their shirts, although I'm guessing they were concerned about being eaten alive. More photos from the float HERE.

All in all, the parade and the festival were both great -- but when all was said and done, the highlight of the weekend was just hanging out with good friends.

Happy Gay Pride, everyone!
