Flowers in the Closet

Did Bronski Beat and Neil Tennant help Brandon Flowers create a "pray the gay away" anthem? Read HERE.

Maybe he's talking about himself. He's always seemed fey and after Andy, You're a Star, it could be that he's been through some gay years. (Not that it makes it any better or ok that he is using the sample for this garbage, but if it's a confessional kind of song it's at least brave for its honesty.)

I think to make that interpretation is one way to look at it, but it could mean any number of things.

The Killers (and Flowers) have always borrowed heavily from 80's music. I think the song is great.

Maybe he's had some "gay years", probably not. For a Mormon, he's been a friend to the gay community. He's been married forever with 3-4 kids. And while that doesn't prove straight, using this song, or those lyrics also don't prove it is a pray the gay away song.
