 An earlier version of this article and its accompanying headline incorrectly compared JSwipe users to yentas. Yentas are busybodies, not matchmakers.

This is a common error, and you can thank Joseph Stein, who wrote the book for Fiddler on the Roof. His matchmaker (the correct word is shadchan) is named Yente, so most people not familiar with Yiddish have conflated the name with the job.
