'Saturday Night Live' Turns 40 ... Again

Thanks to everyone who informed me they are reairing the "Saturday Night Live" 40th anniversary special tonight, even if Matt Rettendmund's review has me thinking I'm probably gonna skip it (again) and flip through my old Gilda Radner People magazine (again).

Age does play its crafty games with points-of-view. Matthew Rettendmund was 8 when SNL premiered.

Indeed, 70 year-old singers no longer have their teen-to-30 year-old voices, but, that doesn't mean its not entertaining for those of us who remember them from 40 years ago. But when I see Paul McCartney and Paul Simon play, I also get to remember being a teen spinning their records; remember watching Paul Simon in a turkey costume arguing with Lorne Michaels whether the skit is working.

The show is a stroll down memory lane, one my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed.

Gilda was the best - I have the People magazine from 1989 when she passed away - she still had so much more to give us - a shem her candle was snuffed out to long.
