Crumb-y News

Crumbs Bake Shop set to reopen first of 16 NYC-area stores

They went bankrupt for a reason -- and I say support your local bakery instead of some publicy traded chain. I'll still with Empire Cake or Billy's Bakery, thank you very much.
The Crumbs location on Broadway between 37th and 38th Sts. is reopening on Tuesday morning, with others set to relaunch over the next 30 days. The chain will reopen 26 total stores, including Boston and L.A. locations. The cupcake chain, which closed all 48 locations in July but was bought out of bankruptcy by CNBC personality Marcus Lemonis and Fischer Enterprises, is revamping its menu — including a new product, the baissant, a cross between a bagel and a croissant.

The cake-sized cupcake fad is over. As is the Cronut Baissant hybrid thing, which was stupid from day one. I hope that the new owner has more reasonable expansion plans for Crumb. Because the previous owners had expectations that weren't in line with reality.
