I didn't see the women's final -- I couldn't bear the thought of Caroline Wozniacki embarrassing herself again -- but kudos to Serena Williams, who joins Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert in the 18 Grand Slams Club! Serena has a strong case for greatest of all time, but at 33 I think she dilly-dallied around too long to ever catch up to the 22 majors won by Steffi Graf, who still gets my vote for GOAT.
Because of the USTA's idiotic insistence on having the men's final on Monday, I won't be seeing much of that either. (It's broadcast on the Internet, so I will have it on at my desk while working.) I was bummed when Novak Djokovic lost, but then when Fed got booted too, I was suddenly really excited for the men's game. I pick Cilic to win, but either way it's going to be so cool with two non-Big Three Slam winners in one year!
