Court of Opnion

We had the ladies' lineup yesterday -- now what do you think about the men's? I like Jimmy Connors for mental toughness and Rafael Nadal for athleticism. Michael Chang for anything seems odd to me -- and Bjorn Borg's backhand seems to be missing -- but I guess this clears up the question of whether or not you have to have been a U.S. Open champ to be on the list.

I'm still pondering the stupidity of the women's list as they left out Chris Evert who holds the record for number of US Open wins, at 6 and even won the tournament on two different surfaces.

Most mentally tough: John McEnroe. Kidding! Bjorn Borg I think.

Most athletic: Not a Nadal fan at all, but could be him.

Maybe Borg for mental toughness and Djokovic for athleticism. Unless you want to go off the board and pick that Monfils for athleticism even though he's never won anything.

Laver seems like a sentimental pick for backhand. Was his better than Djokovic's? Connors's?

Seems like Nadal should be there somewhere. He's at least in the top three on forehand, footwork, mental toughness and athleticism.

I definitely agree with Nadal for most athletic. Federer definitely is, or at least was, one of the most mentally tough players around. In his heyday, he never seemed ruffled or intimidated by anything, nor did he show much emotion when he was frustrated.

Connors for Mental toughness, and Federer for Most Athletic

Mental toughness - Jimmy Connors

Jimmy Connors. 5 time US Open winner. Only man to win the US Open on 3 different surfaces, grass, clay, hard court. Yet, the purveyors of this list ignore his US Open accomplishments. WTF

Nadal for both really. His forehand is also arguably better (or at least more consistent) than Federer's. Based on his performances in Grand Slams without having a huge serve, I'm going with Most Mentally Tough. I'll settle for Most Athletic, though.

Michael Chang for footwork? Seriously? Federer for footwork... even more impressive than his forehand... half the reason the forehand was lethal is because he glides so well across the court.
