Laurie Metcalf Joins Joey McIntyre's Big Gay Irish Catholic Pilot

If sitcoms didn't suck so bad these days, this might actually be a good idea/

NYP reports:
Laurie Metcalf is set to star in a comedy pilot for CBS, deadline.com reports. The “Roseanne” alum would star opposite Jack McGee and Joey McIntyre in “The McCarthys” which revolves around “a big Irish Catholic, sports-crazed Boston clan and the gay son whose greatest sin is not his sexuality but his desire to spend less time with his family,” according to the report. Metcalf would play the family’s mother Marjorie, who is described as having “no filter and loves having her gay son keep her company when her husband and other kids are off coaching basketball games.” The project was shot as a single-camera pilot last development season (with Jacki Weaver playing the mother role) and is now being retooled as a multi-camera comedy.
Wonder if Jonathan Knight got an audition.
