Song of the Day: 'Show Me' by Dislocation Dance

This one comes to my attention by way of Mark Allen, who was leading a parallel life to me as a kid in suburban Texas, only with a hotter body: It seems Dislocation Dance are yet another bombshell-singer-ed, '80s New Wave band neither of us had ever heard of. (Remember when he got me with The Passions?)

Mark writes:
Did you ever hear Dislocation Dance? I never did. Somehow. They were from Manchester, had a lot of LPs and singles all through the '80s. A sort of mix of Saint Etienne, Style Council, and... I dunno, Sade? Noir-y, dance-y, sugary pop with retro jazz interests and modern ('80s) new wave accents and production. Also a dark undercurrent to it all... which make me wonder why they never were on Factory? Apparently they were very popular with the NME-reading hoards of the time. They're great!
I'm equally intrigued, although I would throw Matt Bianco (especially on the song "You'll Never, Never Know"), "Eden"-era Everything But the Girl and "Bite"-era Altered Images -- and maybe a dash of Haircut 100? -- into the list of similar-sounding groups. I'm thinking they never made it to America because they had a revolving cast of characters, including two different female lead singers, over the years, and were perhaps a bit too quirky even for '80s British Invasion. If you like what you hear, the blog Not Rock On has more information about the band HERE, but the appreciation is all Mark's ...
