Song of the Day: 'Hurricane' by Kim Carnes

The only way for Kim Carnes was down after the phenomenons success of "Bette Davis Eyes," so her 1982 follow-up, "Voyeur," was bound to disappoint. The title-track stalled at No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100, and the second single, "Does It Make You Remember?" didn't fare any better. The following year she released what I always thought was an underappreciated album, "Cafe Racers," whose plaintive first single, "Invisible Hands," stalled at No. 40. The follow-ups, the brilliant "I Pretend" and the ballad "You Make My Heart Beat Faster" -- did even worse, but I always thought "Hurricane" was the LP's obvious hit. Have a listen:

I always thought Carne's best albums were St Vincent's Court and View from the House...seem to capture her natural style the best.
