Deal With It

I don't eat at Subway that often, but with bathing-suit season quickly approaching, I have found myself in there more often than I'd like. While the food is bland at best, there is one source of "excitement" you can always count on Subway for: How the employees will do ANYTHING to get out of honoring one of the chain's promotions! Tonight, I ordered two of their $6 Meal Deals, but the cashier then started handing me the extra-large cup, which I resisted. He then insisted it was "the same price" as the 21 ouncer, so I didn't feel like arguing, only to be -- once again -- charged considerably more than what was advertised. If you're wondering why I don't throw a hissy fit -- they lure people in off the street with the sign you see above, and there are no fine-print exceptions that I am missing -- I'm actually fascinated by their ability to routinely rip people off, and to do it so shamelessly. As we ate our barely eatable turkey sandwiches, we watched them bait-and-switch a half-dozen other people, and not one of them successfully fought back. Personally, the thought of being in that confrontational position over and over throughout the day isn't worth all the money in the world. But the rent on 8th Avenue has to be exorbitant, and knowing how these franchises work -- I was once the heir to a confetti "empire" -- I almost have to respect these guys for blatantly lying to my face every time I set foot in the joint and somehow getting me to feel sorry enough for them to let them get away with it!

 New math: 2 x 6 = 13.50

Based on the picture, a bag of chips is the "side?" Oy.

Why the heck are you buying an extra large soda anyway? 21 ounces isn't enough?????

@Alan: I wasn't. I asked for the Meal Deal and he grabbed the huge cup. I said "No, no, no. I don't want that." and he said, "It's the same price." So I just didn't feel like arguing (you don't have to drink an extra large just because you have an extra large cup.)

Maybe they tried to rip off Bloomberg and that's why he wants to ban any drink over 16 oz.

They also don't seem to know their own "specials." Next month you might see a commercial every five minutes for TURKEY WITH GUACAMOLE AND HEINZ 57 SAUCE. Mmmm mmmm! Try our turkey with GUACAMOLE and HEINZ 57 SAUCE! And then you'll order that and they'll put some turkey on some bread and ask you dazedly what you might want on that.
