Roger Federer Ends 2011 on a High Note

While I don't think Roger Federer's win at the ATP Tour finals yesterday in London is a huge deal as far as what's to come in 2012 -- Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal were both clearly there out of obligation only -- I do think it's a HUGE deal for Roger himself, who still managed to win after blowing it while serving for the match in the second set and squandering a match point in the resulting tiebreak. After losing a number of huge matches after having match point -- including to Nole at this year's U.S. Open and last -- I'm not sure he could handle it psychologically to let yet another one slip away. Ending the year 17-0 has gotta feel good, and now having the most six titles puts in the record books once again.
