RIP, Loleatta Holloway

So sad to read that singer Loleatta Holloway has died at 64 after a brief illness. Best known for her singles "Hit and Run" and "Love Sensation" -- the latter of which was later sampled by Black Box for their No. 1 single "Ride On Time" -- and singing the best part of Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch's "Good Vibrations," Holloway most recently appeared in my music collection with her splendid cover of the Style Council's 1984 hit "Shout to the Top." Holloway was a gifted vocalist whose talents will be missed. RIP, Loleatta.

This is a sad loss indeed. I love Salsoul and "Hit and Run" is one of my all-time favorites. It's just so nasty! Especially that guitar riff. You all know the part I mean. Another wonderful talent gone. RIP Loleatta Holloway.
