Ranking Roger

The tennis gods were at work when I mysteriously work up at the crack of dawn today (read: 10 a.m.) and flipped on ESPN2, where six-time champion Roger Federer found himself down two sets and a fistful of break points against the unheralded Colombian Alejandro Falla, who was playing with the confidence of a man who'd just gone threw an eight-ball on a Saturday night. In the end, though, Roger Houdini somehow managed to pull it out, 5-7, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (1), 6-0, thus preventing what would have been perhaps the biggest upset in the history of the game. But even Roger had to admit he got lucky: “This one is one I should have lost. That’s sometimes how grass-court tennis works.” I'm really glad I saw this one live -- Alejandro played some of the most incredible tennis I've ever seen in my life.
