Grand Slamming

Wow! What I'd give to be in Indian Wells this week. Sure, the BNP Paribas Open men's and women's tournaments would be fun to check out. But these two charity doubles matches for Haiti -- pitting Roger Federer and Pete Sampras against Rafael Nadal and Andre Agassi (with Rod Laver as an alternate?!), and Justine Henin and Martina Navratilova (The "Shrimps") vs. Lindsay Davenport and Steffi Graf -- would have been worth the cross-country flight alone. Would love to hear from anyone who was there (if it was on TV, I totally missed it). The only thing I'm sure of is that Steffi was probably a competitive freak who took it way more serious than anyone else (LOVE her!!!!) .

UPDATE: According to Tennis, Pete "stick in the mud" Sampras didn't take too kindly to some on-court ribbing from Andre Agassi.

Kenneth,

It was broadcast on the Tennis Channel on Friday night.

It was live on Tennis Channel last night and will be replayed throughout the weekend. The women's match was a lot of fun and got pretty competitive toward the end. The men's match was great but Andre seemed to be on a 'roid rage or something - he took the exhibition "fun" a little too far and made it kind of awkward...

It was on the tennis channel last night at 10:30 pm eastern time. Agassi made some unflattering comments about Pete and it got a little uncomfortable. Everyone word headsets and mic's so you could hear every word!!!

Steffi Graf looks better now than when she was in her heyday. Tennis Channel carrys Indian Wells all week and than Sony Ericcson "Miami Slam" next week. I think Andre was annoyed when Sampres immidated his pigeon toe walk.

I agree. Agassi ruined the men's match. Navratilova played well. Steffi was rusty but looked great.

Ken, you can actually watch the match on replay at espn360.com... the Men's match was feisty, but technically better than the women's match :)

Martina was a hoot.

Federer is an absolute wizard.
